The dash is fine, though I agree it's hard to get a hang of. Most of the mean platforms are after you have plenty of movement tools. Small platforms are only rough early on when you can't correct your jumps, but one-tile jumps are rare, and usually not over pits either. though it's best to stay out of it anyway. A later chapter is designed around you pogoing out of the water if you fall into it. The platforms start smoking when they're about to disappear, almost always give you SP to refund the shurikens you spend to activate them, and electricity can be dodged with a timed jump (and a pogo stab to keep you in the air if you're not confident). ![]() Water is almost always a punishment and you're not supposed to fall into it. The arc is really useful for correcting your jumps and it's mostly a movement tool. The pogo stab's SP version can drop instantly if you press down again once the sparks are showing. I don't really remember any of them that do this until you get very late into the game, where dash attacks cause pickups to magnetize to you anyway and most of your deaths are FROM those pits. When health pickups are positioned over pits, you're meant to catch them as they fall. ![]() All of these things, combined with excruciatingly longer checkpoints. Not being able to dash+slice at least once, while in the air. Falling acceleration, combined with millions of instant death spikes in later levels. Second problem, Why does the sprinting stop whenever I hit anything? This sounds like the exact thing the first solution could have solved, because I can't tell you how many times I just scrapped a corner while dashing, which is already not that easy to control, only to lose all momentum and lose my air dash+slice because of it. It's ok though, I'm sure no one's ever heard of them, they are pretty underrated and have gone under for decades now. You know, like that other Indie game from the 90s made by that Chinese developer, Nintendi, I think the game was called Super Mario Bros. What could work better here? How about, being able to holding the dash button makes you run indefinitely. Idk what that's about.įirst problem, can only dash while On the ground + Moving. I can tangibly feel just how old this control scheme of the dashing is, which is an ungodly contrast to how butter smooth the slicing dash is, albeit being a bit imprecise, because of the seemingly random distance it has sometimes. It's great, especially when intermixed with all the crap you deal through any of the later levels. I Like the whiplash effect of going from nothing is wrong, to sudden death. There's not much wrong with the wall climbing and jumping, in fact it's pretty easy, but they make up for it with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like this, eh?Ĭool. I, Despise these and whoever's idea was it to make them so easy to miss. This is easily the most unfitting thing in the game, that offers no way to avoid taking damage if you fall into it, which is great, because I love platforms that sink after a while and electricity that I can't stop, as well as other turrets and mutation blocking my way and more things ahead and no health after all that ♥♥♥♥, combined with all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I had to go through before getting there. This is about as counter-intuitive as some of these power ups get and I like the animations, but the unnecessary arcs combined with that delay, really makes that one unwieldy. Overly animated effects that turn the game into trial and error.Įxample, down-thurst's delayed explosion makes it impossible to stay in the air and do it again, especially above spikes, because, you can't see if the enemy is dead and if you commit to another one and the enemy dies before you finish that long downthrust animation. Man, that would be so cool, right? So Challenging too!Ģ. Imagine if health ups in a beatemup bounced away from you, on similarly long stretches of a level and Finally seeing that piece of health up, looking much like a new bonfire does after half a mile of dealing with ♥♥♥♥, only for it to bounce off into a pit. ![]() Replenishables every life lost from boxes, what I mean by that, the way they jump and bounce off the chests and go into a pit of spikes. Let me just really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rip open a new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this game, because I seriously do not understand anyone who claims this game has no flaws whatsoever.ġ.
